Ground correction on the schoolyard of Othniel College

Foreword

The Othniel college has been built on a slight slope with an angle pointing towards the gate of the school. In Congo, the rainy season brings regular heavy showers due to the tropical climate. The rainwater washes away the surface layer of the ground, creating channels and ditches. The result of this phenomena and the previous ground correction attempts, is an approximately 50 cm high uneven crack of the ground crossing and dividing the schoolyard into an upper and lower part. The yard has become insufficient for outdoor school events and ball games due to this problem.

Project description

The erection of a wall crossing the yard to stop soil erosion and making ground surfaces even to create a schoolyard optimal for ball games and school events.

Progression of the project

The construction of a 17 m long and 60 cm high wall out of bags filled with sand following the line on the blueprint.

Goal

Stopping soil erosion that takes place because of the regular heavy tropical rains and creating an aesthetic image and a schoolyard that is much of a use.
