We try to lend a helping hand to as many African children and families in need as possible and to provide them with an efficient, cross-sectoral and sustainable assistance. Beside our projects on the ground, we also organise a number of presentations and programmes in Hungary so that everyone can discover the cultural and natural values of the African continent. We try to reach as great a public as possible, inform it about our work and win over new and new supporters for our cause. You can find updates on our projects and events by surfing the News.

The insufficient educational system is one of the main reasons of poverty in Congo. Illiteracy is as high as 33%. By widening the scope of public education and creating better teaching quality the number of people living under poor circumstances can be diminished. In order to provide a good solution for the problem, Foundation for Africa launched a project with the co-financing of the Hungarian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In the framework of the project the primary and secondary school College Othniel in Kinshasa - run by the Foundation - would be renewed and will be expanded with a second block of rooms.

Our aims on the short-term are:
- To create new school buildings
- To ameliorate infrastructure
- To broaden the educational programmes

On the long-run though, we hope that we could enhance the prestige and standard of College Othniel, provide improved exam facilities for students and launch new educational programmes. We also hope to find a way to provide future income possibilities and hire new staff.
The project will results in  multi-functional rooms: 2 teaching / nursery rooms, one covered, open space, and a small administrative department (nurse's room + teacher’s room + office ). In addition, infrastructural developments will be implemented (power network development) in the existing and new buildings. Furthermore, new educational programs will be introduced so new rooms will fully be occupied.
During the construction works, we tried to use material that are easily available nearby and only import things that can be repaired in the future only by using local materials. Furthermore, we only employ builders and other experts from the area.

The project is expected to be finished by the beginning of May 2014.
