The Deepest Silence: Violence in Congo

2009. February 18.

Lisa F. Jackson has undertaken a daring endeavor on the 10th anniversary of the armed conflict raging in the Democratic Republic of Congo: She has descended into the heart of darkness when she decided to make a documentary about the raped, violated or murdered women. Sexual violence is one of the most wicked side-effects of today's wars. Not only did she travel to the farthest corners of Congo to search for victims, but also got soldiers in front of the camera, who spoke with chilling indifference about the atrocities they had committed.
