Do we know each other?

befejezett project

Our goal is to reduce manifestations of prejudice, promote dialogue between cultures, contribute to the development of an open society with interactive methods.

Our main aim is to promote tolerance and reduce the conflicts and hate speech in three primary schools in lagging towns, inhabited by a large number of Roma people. The main target group is upper school students (about 90) who participate in the program developed by Foundation for Africa, Real Pearl Foundation and the Lauder School’s teachers and students. We adopt/work with a method used in a previous project, based on a theatre play, established and performed by immigrants, Jewish, Gypsy/Romani and Hungarian students. These young people coming from diverse backgrounds have an indispensable role in this project. They suggest a positive message for the school communities by working together, neverthless the huge gap among their cultures. The children will be active participants in the cultural art performances they dreamed of. They take part in interactive lectures and a two-day cultural event. They will learn from each other and help each other in the activities. The methodology can easily be passed to local schools, and it can be extended to national level.
